Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000103575
InnateDB Gene IDBG-140536 (Atp8b5)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function P4-ATPase flippase which catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled to the transport of aminophospholipids from the outer to the inner leaflet of various membranes and ensures the maintenance of asymmetric distribution of phospholipids. Phospholipid translocation seems also to be implicated in vesicle formation and in uptake of lipid signaling molecules. May play a role in phospholid transport across membranes and in acrosome formation. {ECO:0000269PubMed:19657017}.
Subcellular Localization Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, acrosome membrane {ECO:0000269PubMed:19657017}; Multi-pass membrane protein {ECO:0000269PubMed:19657017}.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Highly expressed in testis. {ECO:0000269PubMed:19657017}.
