Tlr13 recognizes a conserved 23S rRNA sequence that is the binding site of macrolide, lincosamide, and streptogramin group (MLS) antibiotics in bacteria. This reveals that specific mechanisms of antibiotic resistance are potent bacterial immune evasion strategies for avoiding recognition via Tlr13.
